The Frankston 'RSL' Lady Blues defeated the winless Hobart Lady Chargers on Saturday night in the fight for the wooden spoon.

In a low scoring contest, The Lady Blues prevailed, 43-42. The Lady Blues jumped out to a 14-8 led at quarter time, but were outscored by Hobart by one point in the 2nd quarter and by 7 in the third to be two points down going into the final quarter.

Outstanding defence by the Lady Blues restricted the home team to just 6 points in the final term and the Lady Blues managed to score just enough (nine points) to secure their second win of the season, both against Hobart.

Leading scorers for the game were Ellie Lovelace with 11 points and Mel Cotta with 10, and the leading rebounder for Frankston was Jess McCormack, who had 10 rebounds.

On Friday night the Lady Blues lost to Launceston, 56-80, in the first leg of their two game trip to Tassie. Ellie Lovelace (Pictured) once again top-scored for Frankston with 18 points and Natasha Main had 13 points and 9 rebounds.

The Lady Blues' final game of 2010 will be at Sandringham on Sunday August 1st at 2:00 p.m.
